Timeline of Events for Animation

Below is a brief timeline of events that will be highlighted in the animation:



The Neanderthal Man: (Europe and West Asia) 24-130k years ago.
            -large skulls, short and robust structure and a large nose, short.
            -Stone Age
-Arranged Alliances (Anglo-Saxons)
-Family Ties- Marrying deceased spirits; to appease spirits; (China)
-Polygamy (Male and Female)  (Women = Himalayas)
-Offspring
-Monogamy established (6th and 9th Centuries)  Western; catholic church
State or Church- contracts between the families; Church stayed out of it, until 1215 then you had to post notice of pending marriage; until 1500’s church accepted the couples word that vows were exchanged, no evidence needed.
-17th Century – You got married in a church whether or not you were a member.  In order for it to valid you had to get married in a church.  1836 changed that and allowed civil marriages to be in register offices.
-1639 Massachusetts required marriage licenses, became common in 19th century
-Victorian Era- bards sang of love during Medieval times ; based on love and companionship not gain.
-Love- 250 years ago marriages were more based on love and desire.
-Economics – inheritance of land; less important because of love;
-Marriage Equality- 50 years ago; mutual attraction; companionship; shared responsibilities.
12 June 1967- US Interracial Marriage became legal

-Gay Marriage- Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, took place in December 2005.
